What are some good photo editing; or graphic design software other than Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop Pro?

I don't like photoflitre, photoshop, or paint shop pro. Does anyone have any other programs?What are some good photo editing; or graphic design software other than Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop Pro?
I'm not sure there are programs that use brushes - at least the kind you can download from the Internet - other than Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop and Gimp.
