Now if you want a basic, simple site, have no knowledge of how to build sites (html, etc) and don't want to spend a fortune. You can actually have a site for as little as $10 a year.





GoDaddy.com and get your dot com. Then go to Wordpress.com or any blog of your choice. Make a blog page/site. Put up your info, pictures, etc. They have templates, buttons, etc. Just a matter of typing what you want. Once complete, go back to your GoDaddy.com account and make the forwarding address your blog address. That's it. You have a dot com, site, web space for pics, free dot com email and free forwarding... all for just $10 a year.





I use to build sites as hobby and for others. Use to spend money on programs, web space, even went back to college to learn Dreamweaver. But instead I have done what I just mentioned above. For the real beginners, many of the hosts have templates that you can use, and simply replace the text with the information you want. If you are more experienced, programs such as DreamWeaver, FrontPage or Microsoft Web Expressions are available that can allow you to do more with the programming side. These are more expensive options too though!





Otherwise, it might be best to hire a professional developer to start the design of your site, and allow you to maintain it. Using Notepad (part of Windows), will allow you to edit the html code of the page, once your developer gave you the pages, and you simply update what you want, using a find command in Notepad.
