I find many contractors use an excel spreadsheet that they develop on their own. It's a lot of work and you have to be good with excel. Jobman out of colorado is one such software. Timberline is a very high end accounting and estimating software for construction companies. Quickbooks also has a low end estimating component. You would be well advised to do some extensive checking on the cost of your insurance as it pertains to labor as well as all other costs of wages. Labor usually cost 35% to 100% MORE then wages when you add in vacation, medical, workmen's comp and liab insurance. No matter what software you use it's not going to tell you that. You have to know that from evaluating you accounting program from the past and if you have little or no past it's tough.
