Is there any software available that can be used as an alternative to paint?

Gimp is very powerful, but also very complex. It's more comparable to Photoshop. If you want something simpler, try Paint.net.Is there any software available that can be used as an alternative to paint?
The Gimp is one of the most well-known free, feature-rich alternatives to Paint.

But the one I would suggest is Paint.NET

Its really simple to use, in fact on the surface it looks just like Paint, but its also got lots of features you can use like layers, photo editing and touch-up, and other useful stuff. One of the main problems with the Gimp is its complexity; you have to add a background layer in before you can do anything; if you just want a simple drawing like you might create in Paint its a big hassle; but Paint.NET starts with a simple white canvas; layers are there if you WANT to use them; you don't have to.

Paint.NET is freeware, its not strictly speaking Open Source like the Gimp, although the source code is distributed; it uses an MIT alternative to Open Source.
